Summary

Jakarta Reuse Movement is a program initiated by GIDKP and Enviu to create an ecosystem that supports a reuse lifestyle in Jakarta. By taking an advocacy, collaboration, and education approach, GIDKP and Enviu have the ambition to reduce single-use plastic which prevalently pollutes the environment and are difficult to recycle. This program will involve government, businesses, and communities in a collaborative effort to reduce plastic waste in Jakarta through reuse solutions. It is supported by a public and private sector collaboration, endorsed by the City Government of Jakarta and supported by other initiatives such as PR3, that aims to ensure reuse systems can scale up, become standardized and massive, as a systems-wide solution. The goal is to establish a city-wide reuse system for Jakarta that can be replicated across other cities.

Goals and Impact:

The goal of the program is to build a showcase focusing on at least three reuse solutions, and create social and policy support for reuse to thrive in Jakarta. This done through a combination of government advocacy and social awareness, merchant training, and financing drive. The ultimate targeted impact is for a reuse ecosystem to exist at scale and replace single use plastics across the entire supply chain.
