The Living Landscape of Reuse Solutions database is a global list of for profit and nonprofit programs, campaigns, and systems that eliminate plastic waste by facilitating the reuse of durable items that displace disposables This database includes reuse and refill systems, behavioral approaches such as apps and reward programs, shipping & logistics solutions, and advocacy programs including campaigns, education, technical assistance, and policy advocacy supporting reusable solutions. The project's website also includes an informal reuse section which provides examples of reuse systems that have grown out of cultural practices, traditional ways of doing business, or policy.
Goals and Impact:
The Living Landscape is intended to demonstrate that reuse is already happening all over the world, both formally and informally, and to equip entrepreneurs, advocates, investors, and businesses with real examples and inspiration that can fuel rapid adoption of reuse systems globally. The database currently contains over 1,200 solutions across 114 countries and has identified over $1.2 Billion in reuse funding for the US and Europe from 330 funders from 24 countries. The team also produces a bi-weekly newsletter highlighting examples of reuse in action and sharing relevant resources with the community, and all newsletters are archived on the website for reference.
