MIWA is installed in two Continente stores in Portugal - in Matosinhos, Porto and Colombo, Lisbon. Customers can experience shopping from MIWA's smart technology, using the smart MIWA cups or their own containers. Products are transported in a reusable secondary packaging, too. A wide range of products are offered (from nuts, seeds and cereals to pet food).

Goals and Impact:

MIWA is designed upon circular principles and operates in a closed-loop system, using smart technology enabling tracing of packaging. Like this, packaging does not end up in waste streams. Packaging can be reused up to 300 times and at the end of its lifespan it gets recycled. According to a LCA study, compared to single-use packaging, MIWA has 71 % lower overall environmental impact, 90 % lower material footprint and 62 % lower carbon footprint.
