We, the German Agencyccc for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, are implementing the project "Circular City Labs - testing reusable packaging systems" on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project focuses on the prevention of single-use packaging waste by promoting economically viable reuse systems. Circular City Labs will be established in selected cities, inviting companies of various sectors in an open call for proposals on how to implement reusable packaging systems. Women-led businesses will be prioritized in the selection, since empowering women as entrepreneurs and promoting gender equality in the reuse sector is a key goal of the project. After receiving trainings on leadership, circular economy and reuse systems, one selected proposal per city will be piloted and financially supported. In the long run, a vivid network should be established to exchange lessons learned and to scale-up proven ideas and systems in various cities.
